Ornithogalum
A Greek name, Ornithogalum means bird milk (‘ornithos’ = bird, ‘gala’ = milk). It is also known as the Star of Bethlehem, inspired by the star shaped white flowers. Around 260 varieties of Ornithogalum can be found in Europe, Asia and Africa. The bulbs of some types are edible and the stems are considered a delicacy in France, where they are called asperges de bois. As long as it is above -2 °C you can place he plant inside or outside.
