Ambassadors Day 2024
Ambassadors Day 2024
On Thursday, November 7, and Friday, November 8, it was time for the first Decorum Ambassadors Day. During the two-day program, we took influencers from the flowers and plants branche on an exciting journey, fully immersing them in the brand Decorum. With plenty of happy faces and new connections, it was two successful days!
Ambassadors who attended the event: Hanneke Frankema, Dmitry Turcan, Tom de Houwer, Ahti Lyra, Krisztián Kövér, Klaus Wagener, Erica Cherubini, Fabio Chessa (Sfobo), Katya Hutter, Carjan Ionut (Flexyno), and Stefan and Loredana from Artestry World of Flowers.
Day 1 – Trade Fair Aalsmeer
On the first day, the ambassadors had the chance to marvel at our brand-new stand at the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer. After a group toast and a tasty sandwich, the group explored the Decorum stand. With more than fifty different growers and their various products, there was plenty to discover. The ambassadors were, of course, also free to explore the rest of the fair to get inspired by the latest products and trends in their industry.
In the evening, everyone enjoyed a delicious group dinner at the hotel before heading to bed, tired but satisfied.
Day 2 – Grower Tour
On the first day, the ambassadors saw Decorum’s products beautifully displayed at the Trade Fair, but how does it work in the greenhouse? Day two was packed with a full program of grower visits.
More than fifty types of germinis
The first stop was Oudijk Gerbera’s in Moerkapelle. Dirk-Jan and Laurens Oudijk run the family business on over 7 hectares. With more than forty years of experience, they have the knowledge and skills to be at the top in the germini sector.
In the greenhouse, the ambassadors learned all about automation, germini cultivation, and sustainability. Packaging options and germini mixes were also covered. Almost anything is possible at Oudijk Gerbera’s! A diverse assortment that would delight any designer. With more than fifty different types of germinis, our ambassadors were in the right place at Oudijk Gerbera’s.
Lunch admist the cymbidiums
After Oudijk Gerbera’s, we took our ambassadors to Kwekerij Koningshof in Bleiswijk. Frans de Koning and his father Aad offer almost 100 large-flowered cymbidium varieties in their collection. These are of exceptional quality, making any arrangement shine with their vibrant colors.
Here too, the group learned all about cymbidium cultivation. For instance, the greenhouse is divided into seven sections, with each section blooming for eight weeks a year, never all at once. This way, Aad and Frans can deliver the finest cymbidiums year-round.
After the tour, it was time for lunch with a mix of sandwiches and soup. Here, we delved deeper into all the events the ambassadors have planned for 2025, which Decorum would be thrilled to support!
The world of aparagus
Van der Valk Groenesier in Delfgauw has over 40 years of experience in growing top-quality asparagus in a sustainable way. Brothers Bart, Rick, and Ron van der Valk run the family business. Asparagus is an essential product, adding body to bouquets. The ambassadors also learned about Van der Valk Groenesier’s different painted products.
Last but not least…
The final stop was JungleStar in ’s-Gravenzande. After a typical Dutch treat (gingerbread cookies!), it was time for the tour. Here, the ambassadors dove into the world of guzmanias. Nick Grootscholten taught the group all about the growth stages of guzmanias, the breeding of new varieties, how this ancient plant grows in the wild, and even how to grow one at home. The greenhouse was filled with vibrant colors, perfect for some beautiful photos!
A successful event
We look back on two fantastic Ambassador Days. The ambassadors learned more about Decorum and became even bigger fans 😉 We can’t wait to support them in their projects next year. With well-stocked goodie bags, they made their way back home.
