Borst bloembollen

Borst Bloembollen is known for its distinctive tulip assortment that belongs to the top segment. Each forcing season, they force around 250 different cultivars. On average, Borst Bloembollen has over 50 different varieties in production in the greenhouse at the same time. Most of these cultivars are exclusive tulips of high quality with strong and reliable characteristics. The assortment includes fringed (crispa), parrot, crown, and double (peony) tulips, making the range very diverse. After the forcing period, Borst Bloembollen markets the tulips through auctions and regular buyers.

The forcing season is long and runs annually from the end of September to early May. The bulbs are cultivated not only in the Netherlands but also in New Zealand and Chile. The bulbs from the Southern Hemisphere are forced from late September through December in the greenhouses of Borst Bloembollen. From late December onward, they switch to Dutch-grown tulip bulbs for flower production. This assortment is also very broad, featuring new exclusive varieties.

In the greenhouses, tulips are produced as sustainably as possible. Borst Bloembollen works with a modern container system, utilizing all available space in the greenhouses—from the growing stage to the harvesting phase. To ensure the processing runs efficiently, about 20 people harvest the tulips in special picking areas. The company also has a pre-picking area, ensuring that flowers maintain consistent ripeness throughout every stage of processing.

In addition to tulips, Borst Bloembollen also cultivates various peonies, ensuring their range blooms both early and late in the season. The grower cuts the flowers at the right stage of ripeness to guarantee that the peonies will fully bloom. Each batch is carefully checked to ensure uniform ripeness. All of this is done to deliver the highest quality flowers.
