BD Flowers, the cultivation and breeding company of Jan Star, joins Decorum
With an assortment of no fewer than nine Sanguisorba (burnet) varieties, BD Flowers offers premium-quality cut flowers. This strengthens the Decorum range with an exclusive selection that complements the existing assortment and provides additional options for florists and consumers alike.
Jan Star began his career in the family nursery J Star en Zn, where he was co-owner for 16 years. He then worked for several flower traders to broaden his knowledge, but his passion for selecting and breeding ornamental crops remained. In 2018, he founded BD Flowers, where each flower is hand-cut, carefully selected, and strictly checked for quality.
Innovation and development, along with sustainability, are top priorities at Decorum—and the same applies to BD Flowers, which also has its own breeding division.
Jan Star explains:
“This allows us to remain attractive for export, florists, and garden centres. We dare to innovate, and although not every variety turns out equally good or beautiful, breeding new types makes growing Sanguisorba all the more exciting. The goal is to create and develop high-quality flowers.”
By joining Decorum, BD Flowers’ premium flowers will gain international recognition, offering customers not only top-quality blooms but also a partner that combines innovation, precision, and passion in every product.
Ron Kloos, Managing Director of Decorum, adds:
“We are delighted to welcome BD Flowers to Decorum. Their passion for breeding, combined with craftsmanship and an innovative approach, makes them a valuable addition to our range. Together, we can offer florists and consumers an even broader selection of high-quality and sustainable cut flowers.”
