Vitaflor B.V.

Vitaflor B.V. is a family business fully dedicated to growing chrysanthemums. The nursery is located at Hogeweg 7 in Nieuwaal, in the municipality of Zaltbommel. The name ‘Vitaflor’ has existed since 1993.

The current owner, Bas, comes from a family of growers. Although he initially considered a different career path, the horticultural trade kept drawing him in. He first worked for two years at his parents’ company before taking over the business of a neighbor. There, summer flowers and vegetables were grown for another year and a half, but his love for chrysanthemums prevailed. In 1995, Bas built his first greenhouse specifically for chrysanthemum cultivation. In 2005, a new greenhouse was added.

Vitaflor grows one type of chrysanthemum: the Chrysant Chic, a white spray chrysanthemum with a distinctive green heart. This variety is particularly popular in Eastern Europe and is widely exported.

Upon entering the nursery, you are greeted by a group of greenhouse cats. Originally introduced for biological pest control, they have now also become the charming welcome committee of Vitaflor.

Vitaflor makes almost exclusive use of biological crop protection. The company is also a leader in sustainability. Examples include:

Solar panels for its own energy supply
LED lighting for energy-efficient illumination
Electric dehumidification to maintain optimal humidity levels
Misting systems to cool the greenhouses and maintain a stable climate during summer
Water recycling, reusing nearly all water

The entire family works in the business, contributing to the personal care and passion with which the chrysanthemums are grown. Everything is aimed at consistently delivering the most beautiful Chrysant Chic.
