Van der Gulik BV is a family-run business that has been around for 50 years. The nursery and bulb-forcing company were originally established by Henk van der Gulik, the uncle of the current owner. Since then, while the company has grown to cover 18 hectares of outdoor cultivation and forces around 3,000,000 stems, Patrick van der Gulik has become co-owner. The focus of the business is the quality and continuous innovation. To achieve this, Van der Gulik is a member of the Mellflower association, which is devoting to testing and marketing new tulips varieties. This partnership provides Van der Gulik with a continuous supply of the latest varieties. Van der Gulik is a relatively small company, so each tulip is individually labelled; every tulip receives the attention it deservers and needs. From planting the bulbs to forcing the flowers, Patrick and Ted keep a close eye on all their ‘stars’. Every season, father and son deliver the best tulips, with the compliments of Decorum.
