Kroon Flowers

Kroon Flowers is a family business in Abbenes, which has been active for over 100 years as an arable farm with various ornamental crops throughout the decades. Currently, owner Martien cultivates, among other things, Eryngium, peonies, and sedum. Martien took over the company 26 years ago and has grown a variety of crops, but in recent years he has specialized in cultivating Eryngium, also known as sea holly. They offer three varieties: Eryngium ‘Lovely White Green’, Eryngium zabelii ‘Donard Variety’, and Eryngium ‘Blue Lagoon’. The Eryngium from Kroon Flowers stands out for its large blooms and heavy, long stems, and the Donard Variety is known for its intense blue color. This makes the flowers an excellent choice for large arrangements and bouquets. In addition, Martien grows sedum and peonies on a small scale.

The company has a team of 25 to 30 employees during the season who are dedicated to the cultivation and harvest of Eryngium. Kroon Flowers produces approximately one million Eryngium stems annually.
