Daily Sunshine

Daily Sunshine is a family business run by brothers Patrick and Leon van Stralen, based in Oudkarspel. In 1997, they started open-field cultivation of Helianthus, better known as sunflowers. With a cultivation area of approximately 11 hectares, Daily Sunshine supplies top-quality sunflowers year after year.

The company is known for its craftsmanship and precise harvest planning. The sunflowers are characterized by a strong stem, a full bloom, and long vase life—qualities appreciated by both florists and consumers. Thanks to its favorable location and years of experience, Daily Sunshine manages to harvest flowers even during hot periods, like in 2018, without any quality loss due to heat stress.

After harvest, the flowers are stored in cooling facilities and treated with a pre-treatment approved by the auction in Aalsmeer. This extends vase life and ensures optimal quality for buyers. The season runs from mid-April to around October, depending on the weather.

Daily Sunshine is certified with the international MPS-A quality mark. This certification confirms that the company meets high standards for sustainability, carefully managing water and energy usage, crop protection, and waste management.
